Design the service before the room
Define class size, private sessions, audience, teaching method, accessibility needs, and the progressions instructors expect to offer. Those decisions guide the number of Reformers and whether chairs, barrels, towers, or Cadillac systems add useful programming.
Test the floor plan
Place equipment at confirmed dimensions and include carriage travel, straps, instructor sightlines, emergency paths, reception, storage, cleaning, and delivery access. A crowded drawing can become an unsafe operating room.
Build a complete budget
Include apparatus, accessories, freight, customs where applicable, delivery handling, assembly, inspection, flooring, storage, cleaning, maintenance, replacement parts, insurance, training, and an opening contingency.
Create a written acceptance plan
Before production, agree the configuration and documentation. Before opening, record receiving condition, assembly checks, serial or order references, maintenance responsibilities, and how defects or transit damage are reported.
Keep the practice useful
A sustainable Pilates practice is specific, progressive, and repeatable. Choose equipment that fits your space and goals, then focus on consistent movement quality rather than novelty for its own sake.
